Big bag container stuffing supervision
Gemlik4 photos
For granular cargo shipped in big bags (FIBCs), a clean, dry and undamaged container is the first condition for keeping the product free from contamination and moisture. Before stuffing we check the container's inner surfaces, floor, doors and seals.
During stuffing we follow the bag count, bag condition, and pallet and stowage layout. Placing bags evenly without voids reduces the risk of toppling and tearing in transit. The operation is reported with seal numbers and photographs.
Big bags being loaded into a container by forklift. The loading sequence and positions are planned for an even weight distribution inside the container. Yard operation: empty pallets are cleared as bags are moved to the container. The bag tally is kept at this stage. A big bag being moved by forklift. The bag body, lifting loops and base are checked for tears or leakage. Palletised big bags stowed two high inside the container. The container is confirmed clean and dry before stuffing.

Silver nitrate testing on steel coils
We use the silver nitrate (AgNO₃) test on site to identify the source of rust, wetness and water staining on steel coils. When the solution is sprayed on the suspect area, a white, milky precipitate (silver chloride) forms if chlorides are present, showing that the wetting came from seawater. If there is no reaction, the moisture most likely came from fresh water, such as rain or condensation (sweat).

In-hold steel coil cargo inspections
Because of their weight and round shape, steel coils are among the riskiest cargoes at sea. Without correct stowage, sufficient dunnage and secure lashing, coils can shift when the vessel rolls, crush against one another and damage the ship's structure.

Steel coil discharge supervision
Every lift during a steel coil discharge carries risk for the cargo and for the people around it. During supervision we check that the lifting gear (C-hooks, slings, chains) is suitable for the cargo and that coils are moved without crushing or edge damage.
